Bose QuietComfort Earbuds 2 VS 1

Bose’s already excellent noise-cancelling capabilities have been greatly enhanced with the QuietComfort Earbuds II (QCEB II), blocking more noise than before.

True wireless earphones are not new to Bose. In the years since the company’s initial model made its debut in 2017, it has made numerous improvements to its approach to the product category. With the QuietComfort Earbuds, released in 2020, Bose took a giant step forward by applying its experience in active noise cancellation (ANC) to a modern fully wireless design. Thanks in part to its CustomTune technology, the company has now made another significant leap, adopting a new image and introducing a number of changes.

Bose’s already excellent noise-cancelling capabilities have been greatly enhanced with the QuietComfort Earbuds II (QCEB II), blocking more noise than before. The technology used by the company not only improves ambient sound quality but also calibrates the new buds to your ears. As Bose delivers a more comprehensive package to compete with Sony and Sennheiser, a smaller size results in a more comfortable and less awkward-looking fit.

The initial model of QuietComfort Earbuds was overly large. They resembled modern genuine wireless devices more than a pair of Bluetooth headsets. According to Bose, the QCEB II are one-third smaller than the prior model. With a stem that faces your jaw like AirPods, they still have a little of that headgear appearance. Bose substituted a “stability band” for the larger fit wing as a means of keeping the earphones in place. You can now mix and match sizes because both of those and the ear tips are now separate.

The Bose Music app gives users access to all of the QuietComfort Earbuds II’s settings. A volume slider, shortcuts to sound settings, Bluetooth connections, EQ customization, the ability to change the long press function, and product tips are all displayed once the headphones are attached. It will also show the battery life for each bud. Because multipoint connectivity is not available on the QCEB II, the Bluetooth item is just a list of up to seven devices. You can delve deeper into the appropriate settings menu to determine how much of your own voice you want to hear during calls and other features like in-ear detection and Self Voice. To ensure a perfect seal for noise cancellation purposes, the app also includes an ear tip fit test.

*CustomTune sound calibration technology calibrates the audio and noise cancellation precisely to the acoustic properties of your ear canals.

The QuietComfort® Earbuds 2 are different from the original QuietComfort® Earbuds in several ways, including but not limited to:

  • CustomTune, a new sound calibration system, provides excellent noise reduction and individualised audio.
  • Dramatically enhanced noise-cancelling abilities
  • An earbud and charging case that is noticeably more compact
  • Options for a customised fit, including interchangeable eartips and a variety of stability bands
  • Aware Mode and the quality of your own voice during phone calls have both been made more realistic.
  • A microphone with better noise cancellation means clearer calls.
  • With the Bose Music app’s Fit Test, you can ensure a comfortable seal for optimal audio and noise cancellation.

The QCEB II are the earbuds to choose if you want the best possible noise cancellation in your next pair of true wireless earbuds. With the improvements Bose makes here using CustomTune, not only is the ANC substantially better than the previous generation, but also the ambient sound mode and overall audio quality.

Every time you insert the QuietComfort Earbuds II, CustomTune analyses the acoustics of your ears. According to Bose, the procedure uses an audible tone to calculate and takes less than 0.5 seconds. The sound “reaches the eardrum just as the artist intended,” according to Bose, because CustomTune completely adapts the sound frequency profile to the specific characteristics of each ear.
