Wireless earbuds are nothing new for Bose. Having released its first model in 2017, the company has since iterated on its approach to this market many times. In 2020, Bose took a giant step forward with the release of the QuietComfort Earbuds, which incorporated the company’s years of experience with active noise cancellation (ANC) into a modernized true wireless design.

This year, Bose released a new and upgraded wireless earbud with a new feature called CustomTune Technology. Bose’s QuietComfort Earbuds 2 (QCEB II), which retails for RM1499, include enhanced noise cancellation that is more effective than ever. In addition to enhancing audio performance generally, the company’s new buds are calibrated to your ears with cutting-edge technology that also enhances ambient sound. Bose delivers a more comprehensive package to compete with its competitor, and the smaller size contributes to a more comfortable and less awkward-looking fit.

The QuietComfort® Earbuds 2 are different from the original QuietComfort® Earbuds in several ways, including but not limited to:

The QuietComfort Earbuds 2 are an improvement over their predecessor in more ways than one. The 2020 model was extremely simplistic, with an oval shape that extended awkwardly from your ears. The new design does not stick out quite as much, and its sleek curves make for a more relaxed and secure fit. Bose also redesigned the charging case, going with a flip-top style case that opens at the top. The earphones are stored vertically instead of flat within the original QCEB. It fits into your pocket nicely so they are ready whenever you need them.

Other than that, there are also controls on the earbuds. Both left and right earbuds have the same functionality, which are:

• a swipe up or down to adjust the volume
• a single tap to play or pause content
• a double tap to skip forward
• a triple tap to rewind

Shortcuts can be accessed by pressing and holding the earbud surface. Both headphones provide a shortcut that switches between full noise cancellation (Quiet Mode) and normal listening awareness (Aware Mode) (hear outside sound). Using the Bose Music app, you may add noise-cancelling options between the Quiet and Aware settings. A mobile device’s in-built voice assistant can be accessed via the Shortcut button on one or both earbuds by modifying the setting in the Bose Music app.

Accept a call by tapping once; reject or end calls by tapping twice in rapid succession.

The Bose QuietComfort® Earbuds 2 have been certified as water- and sweat-resistant (to an IPX4 standard) from any direction. Water or sweat that may still be on the buds when they are placed inside the charging case is not a problem, but the exterior of the case should be kept dry at all costs.

CustomTune Technology

Whenever you listen, the sound will be perfectly calibrated to your preferences thanks to CustomTune technology.

How it works:

1. Your buds send out a chime to learn your ear canal’s unique shape

2. The chime bounces back and gets picked up by the built-in microphones

3. Your buds then optimise a noise cancellation and sound performance that fit you perfectly

Quiet & Aware Mode

In Quiet Mode, you will get to experience the world’s best noise cancelling where your background noise will be silenced. Meanwhile in Aware Mode, if you want to hear your surrounding so you can know what is going on around you and stay alert when someone is talking to you. The ActiveSense Technology in Aware Mode can minimize loud background noise with enough transparency to allow you to hear your surroundings.

Adjustable EQ

If you like to customize your music settings, the QuietComfort Earbuds 2 allows you to personalize your own settings in the Bose Music App. You can control the bass, mid-range, and treble levels as you like.

Conclusion:

We can see the biggest difference between the QuietComfort Earbuds 2 and the original QuietComfort Earbuds is the design which is smaller in size and less protruding and weigh lesser than the original. Besides the eartips, this new earbud also added stability bands in three sizes option which claimed to give you flexibility for a more secure and tight fit. Next, we also can see the difference in the casing design that comes with a flap-top casing design.
