Bose Soundlink Micro

Bose Soundlink Micro Bluetooth Speaker Review

Bose SoundLink Micro Bluetooth speaker is small and rugged, making it ideal for any adventure. If you’re the type to go on travels or love doing outdoor activities and are looking for a small speaker with a big sound, you’ve come to the right place.

From the exterior of the Bose Soundlink Micro, we can see it is a palm-sized speaker. Although it is small in size, it is said to have a crisp, balanced sound with surprisingly deep bass. As we all know, portable Bluetooth speakers are an excellent way to bring the party to you wherever you go, but they frequently sacrifice sound quality for portability. The good thing is the Bose SoundLink Micro is not one of them. During an outdoor adventure day, it even has an elastic strap that can be strapped around your bike or bag.

The Soundlink Micro comes in six colours, which are Black, Midnight Blue, Bright Orange, Stone Blue and White Smoke. It is also IP67 rated which means it’s waterproof, dustproof, and extreme-temperature proof. It also has a battery life of 6 hours.

Design & Build Quality

The Soundlink Micro Bluetooth Speaker is very well made as you can see. The speaker is covered with a texturized rubber that can protect the device from drops, and getting scratched when you’re using it outdoors. On the speaker, there’s a battery-life indicator near the Micro-USB charging port, volume controls, and a multifunction button for controlling playback. The battery life is 6 hours, which is standard for this type of speaker. As mentioned above, the strap is a tear-resistant silicone strap which is durable and very useful for users to strap on their bikes or bags.

You can also sync this speaker with other Bose compatible speakers together using the Simple Sync feature. Pair your soundbar or headphones with the speakers and listen to the same music together! To use this feature, all you have to do is download the Bose Music App and you will be able to pair two selected products.

Even though the Soundlink Micro is small in size, but it is also extremely well designed and functional. It fits comfortably in hand, and its small size and shape make it easy to pack. It’s even slim enough to be truly pocketable.

As for the sound quality, it really is impressive for a speaker this size. It of course couldn’t compare with the other Bose’s larger and more expensive speaker. But for this size, the sound quality and bass are impressive enough to deliver a significant bass and volume. It definitely packs a punch in terms of the sound quality, however not every song performs the same sound quality. For hard-hitting songs like EDM, Hip Hop or Rap songs it will lack a bit.

Conclusion

The Soundlink Micro Bluetooth Speaker is priced at RM689. It is an excellent travel Bluetooth speaker which has useful features and is reasonably priced at the same time. But if you are looking for a longer battery life this might not be the one for you. It is still a good option if you’re looking for something to take to the beach or on a hiking trip.

If you’re looking for an alternative Bluetooth Speaker, you might want to check the Soundlink Flex, which was the latest product released by Bose. SoundLink Flex features a more compact design with a smaller, non-detachable loop that can be attached to your bag. It charges via USB-C and has a more robust IP67 dust and water-resistant design. It has a battery life of up to 12 hours too. The SoundLink Flex is thus a better adventure speaker than the SoundLink Micro, but it is also more expensive, retailing at RM799.

Other alternative speakers: Soundlink Mini II, Portable Home Speaker and Soundlink Revolve speakers.
